Scale, at Panoramai's AI for Society

My talk on taking AI from promising demo to something a society-critical organisation can run on, in the Critical Use Cases for Society track at Campus Biotech.

In September 2025 I spoke at Panoramai, the Geneva generative AI conference, at its AI for Society edition at Campus Biotech: 150-plus attendees from the international-Geneva ecosystem, on the Critical Use Cases for Society track. My session was called Scale.

The argument drew on the QuantumBlack years: getting from an AI system that demos well to one that a hospital, an examiner or an international organisation can depend on is an engineering and organisational problem; the model isn't the blocker. Most of the difficulty and most of the value sit in scaling, and organisations with society-critical missions can't afford to get it wrong.

The conference is also where several threads of my Geneva work started: conversations that turned into advisory relationships, and a first-hand read on how the city's international organisations are thinking about AI.
